The global market for body composition analyzers is projected to grow from approximately US$990 million in 2026 to US$1.39 billion by 2031, representing a compound annual growth rate of 7.1%, according to a new report from MarketsandMarkets.

The report points to rising interest in preventive health, personalized fitness, metabolic health and ongoing progress tracking as key factors supporting demand. It also highlights continued development in portable devices, connected platforms and digital health integration, which are making body composition assessments more accessible across healthcare, wellness and fitness settings.

Of particular relevance to the fitness industry, fitness clubs and wellness centres are expected to record the highest growth rate among end-user categories between 2026 and 2031. MarketsandMarkets says operators are increasingly using body composition assessments to move beyond weight-only measurements and track metrics such as body fat, muscle mass, hydration and changes over time.

Bioelectrical impedance analysis remains the largest product segment, accounting for 71% of the market in 2025, while segmental body measurement represented 57.7% of applications. The report also expects strong growth in portable and consumer-grade devices, reflecting a broader shift toward more frequent and connected monitoring.

For gym and studio operators, the broader takeaway is that body composition assessment is becoming increasingly embedded in personalized fitness and wellness programming. As facilities look for ways to demonstrate progress beyond the scale, support coaching conversations and strengthen member engagement, measurement tools are likely to play a larger role in onboarding, goal setting and long-term progress tracking.

North America is expected to remain the largest regional market during the forecast period, supported by strong adoption across fitness centres, healthcare facilities, research institutions and home-use settings.
