The Fitness Industry Council of Canada has two upcoming webinars addressing very different but timely issues for the industry — the future of personalized training and new consumer protection requirements in British Columbia.
By FitBizWeekly Staff
The first takes place tomorrow, September 23 at 6 p.m. Eastern, while the second is scheduled for October 8 at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern.
September 23: The New Science of Personalised Fitness
FIC has launched a new education partnership with Precision Health Alliance, beginning with the live webinar “Why the Same Program Gets Different Results: The New Science of Personalised Fitness.”
The session will examine why clients can respond very differently to the same training program and what that means for the evolving role of personal trainers.
Discussion will focus on the many factors that can influence results beyond the workout itself, including nutrition, sleep, stress, recovery, behaviour, motivation and environment.
The webinar will also explore how trainers can use technology and AI more effectively, while building stronger skills in precision fitness and health, technology selection and behaviour change.
The session is positioned as the first major event in a broader FIC and Precision Health Alliance education partnership aimed at helping fitness professionals prepare for the future of practice.
Date: September 23
Time: 6 p.m. Eastern
Cost: Free for FIC members and non-members
October 8: Bill 4 Consumer Protection Update for B.C. Operators
FIC will follow with an information briefing on October 8 focused on changes to British Columbia’s consumer protection legislation affecting fitness businesses.
The webinar will feature FIC President Sara Gilbert, Executive Director Zach Weston, Board Member Carl Ulmer and Consumer Protection BC Director Mike Collyer.
The session is intended for fitness facility owners and operators in British Columbia and will review legislation that came into effect on August 1, 2026 relating to subscription memberships.
Topics will include pre-contract disclosure requirements, contract requirements, unfair contract terms, fitness and personal services contracts, subscription contracts, business rights and responsibilities, and enforcement and penalties.
Date: October 8
Time: 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern
Cost: Free for FIC members; $75 for non-members
Together, the two webinars reflect FIC’s broader focus on both professional development and practical business support — from preparing trainers for a more personalized, technology-enabled future to helping operators understand changing regulatory requirements.
