Are you leaving money on the table? Are leads coming into your funnel that you aren’t closing? Are you not getting enough leads?

The last thing you want to do is wait until January to have your tried-and-tested marketing and sales strategy in place!

“In the competitive world of fitness, many business owners struggle to maintain profitability,” says Greeley. “Despite doing all the right things, hiring the right people, looking at their monthly reports, they find themselves in the same place they were last month. We help our clients break free and get to the next level.”

Since 2006, NPE has helped over 53,000 fitness entrepreneurs in 96 countries worldwide grow to the next level. They have been listed eight times on the INC. magazine list of fastest growing companies. NPE has also helped generate over 1.1 BILLION dollars in additional revenue for their clients.

Whether you are a franchise owner with multiple locations, or a small business looking for ways to boost profit, these strategies will help you level up.

1.   MAKE MONEY

Sounds simple, right? We all want to make more money. NPE has developed the NPE MAKE MONEY SYSTEM™, which helps entrepreneurs grasp their financial models and optimize profitability assessing four key factors:

    1. Client Selection: Targeting the right demographic can significantly impact revenue generation.

    2. Service Offerings: The products and services you provide should meet the needs of your target audience. Consider diversifying your offerings to include personal training, group classes, or online coaching.

    3. Pricing Strategy: Setting the right price is crucial. Research your competitors and consider value-based pricing strategies to ensure you’re not undercharging or overpricing.

    4. Packaging Options: How you package your services matters. Options like individual sessions, punch cards, or long-term contracts can appeal to different client segments and maximize revenues.

A well-thought-out strategy can lead to sustainable income, while poor choices may hinder growth.

2. MANAGE EXPENSES

Are there months you feel you are bleeding money? In the current economy, everything can feel more expensive. As a business owner, you can focus your energy on looking at expenses with a sharper eye focusing on four key areas:

    1. Team Compensation: Staff play a vital role in delivering services. Competitive compensation can motivate them to perform better and retain clients!
    2. Marketing Investments: Attracting clients requires investment in marketing. Assess where you are allocating funds for advertising, promotions, and sales commissions to ensure a strong ROI.
    3. Facility Costs: Rent or mortgage payments for your fitness space can take a large chunk out of your budget. Choose a location that balances visibility and cost-effectiveness.
    4. Operational Expenses: While some costs, like utilities, are fixed, others can be optimized. Regularly review all expenses to identify areas for reduction or elimination.

It is critical to establish a strong understanding of these costs.

3. EVALUATE PROFITABILITY

Everyone wants to run a profitable business, and if yours is not profitable things have to change – stat! Once you’ve addressed revenue and expenses, it’s time to assess profitability. Profit margins can give you insight into your business’s health:

    • Less than 10%: Indicates that your business may be struggling and needs immediate intervention.
    • 10-20%: Reflects an average performance; however, there’s room for improvement.
    • 20-30%+: This is a strong performance, showing that your business is well-positioned for growth.

If your profits are lacking, it’s essential to revisit your financial equation.

AND WHAT ABOUT MARKETING?

Effective marketing is crucial for driving revenue, especially in a saturated market. Research shows that businesses that invest in targeted marketing strategies can increase their customer base significantly. Consider these four key approaches:

    1. Social Media Marketing: Use platforms like Instagram and Facebook to showcase success stories, engage with potential clients, and promote special offers.
    2. Local SEO: Optimize your website for local searches to attract clients in your area. Ensure your business is listed on Google My Business and other relevant directories.
    3. Referral Programs: Encourage existing clients to refer friends by offering incentives. Word-of-mouth is a powerful marketing tool in the fitness industry.
    4. Content Marketing: Create valuable content that resonates with your audience. Blog posts, videos, and free resources can position you as an authority in your field.

You can reach Q4 and be overwhelmed by your own business, especially if it isn’t thriving. However, mastering these strategies, and making informed decisions about your growth can lead to a sustainable, profitable business.
