Finding Our Way Back to Wellness

Finding Our Way Back to Wellness

Even Fitness Professionals go through stages of being unmotivated. It’s hard to admit that even sometimes we struggle with what to do next. The last year certainly has been a tough environment to navigate even for the best of us. I know for me, I have had to manage personal issues that have affected my emotional wellbeing. We are leaders and motivators. Even we need support from others. It’s important to get ourselves back on track in order to do our jobs well.

Our job is to encourage and support our clients. These days it seems a lot of people are struggling with mental and emotional issues. We need to find constructive and healthy ways to stay positive. What I found helpful was vocalizing my feelings. Whether that is in the form of a counselor or a trusted friend, it’s okay to lean on others. My family was a great support and really nurtured feelings of self confidence and positivity.

Surround yourself with positivity. A gym is a great place to derive energy from others. What happens when it’s taken away? I didn’t know how much I missed socializing until I went back to the gym. I missed social connection and positive energy. I enjoy being outside and being active. Nature is a great way to reap the benefit of positive energy. Keeping social connections with others is a benefit even if it over skype, facebook or a phone call. Nurture the relationships that make you happy, including the relationship with yourself.

Sometimes I find myself with pent up energy and anxiety. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just energy that needs to be focused in a constructive way. I took up painting which is a great stress relief. It takes me out of my own mind and allows me to focus on the task at hand. I also write stories or poetry to help alleviate any pent up emotional stress. These activities help me find inner peace. Whether it’s reading, drawing, painting or meditating. Find what works for you!

We are only human. Our purpose is to help others live their best life. Even though it’s been a hard year, there is a path back to health and wellness. Keep focused on the positive and engage in activities that nurture wellness.

We must start with ourselves. When we are well, others will reap the rewards.
