HOTWORX has surpassed 900 open studios worldwide, marking another expansion milestone as the infrared fitness franchise moves toward its stated goal of reaching 1,000 locations by spring 2027.
Founded in 2017, HOTWORX combines virtually instructed workouts with infrared sauna environments and 24-hour studio access. The company says it now serves more than 400,000 members across the United States, Canada, Ireland and Dubai, with additional studios in development in Mexico and Kenya.
In Canada, HOTWORX currently lists three locations on its website: Calgary – New Brighton, Calgary – Canyon Meadows, and Boucherville, Quebec. The Calgary New Brighton studio operates as a 24-hour infrared fitness facility, while the Boucherville location is also listed as offering 24-hour member access.
The company attributes much of its expansion to franchisees who first joined HOTWORX as members before moving into ownership.
“Crossing 900 studios and 408,693 members in the same year tells us the model is working at scale,” said Stephen P. Smith, Founder and CEO of HOTWORX. He added that reaching 1,000 locations is the brand’s next milestone, while continuing to improve the member experience as the network grows.
Technology Supports the 24-Hour Model
HOTWORX has also introduced a series of technology updates in 2026 aimed at supporting its self-directed, 24-hour studio model.
These include TrainingTRAX, an AI-powered personal training system that develops 90-day plans around infrared sessions and resistance training; SCAN24/7, which allows members to purchase retail products through the HOTWORX app; and INFO ZONE, an in-app resource focused on infrared exercise, recovery, nutrition and performance.
The company has also introduced AI coaching features and updates to its virtual coaching experience in the functional training area.
“People are looking for a system that tells them what to do next and why it works,” Smith said.
International Growth Continues
HOTWORX also entered Alaska for the first time in 2026 through a four-studio development agreement, with its first location in the state opening in Wasilla in August.
The brand has continued to receive recognition for its franchise growth, including a rise to No. 58 on Entrepreneur’s 2026 Franchise 500 ranking and its debut on the Inc. 5000.
With more than 900 studios now open, HOTWORX says its focus is on reaching the 1,000-location mark while continuing to expand its technology platform and franchise network.
