Education technology company Inspire360 has released its Q1 2026 GLP-1 Club Intelligence Report, examining how fitness operators are responding to the rapid growth of GLP-1 weight-loss medications and the increasing convergence of healthcare and fitness services.
The report identifies 17 fitness brands and 10 solution providers that have taken steps to integrate GLP-1–related support into their offerings as of March 2026. Approaches vary across the industry, ranging from direct clinical partnerships at premium fitness clubs to telehealth referral models used by some budget chains.
One key finding highlighted in the report is the growing overlap between medication users and gym participation. Approximately 12.4% of U.S. adults have taken a GLP-1 medication, and about half of those users report considering a gym membership as part of their weight-management journey.
While the report focuses primarily on developments in the United States, it reflects a broader global trend toward closer collaboration between healthcare providers and fitness operators as demand for medically supported weight management grows. For Canadian operators, the report suggests the importance of monitoring these developments as similar models of integrated health and fitness support continue to emerge.
The report also identifies what it calls a “trainer readiness gap.” While resistance training is widely recommended to help prevent muscle loss that can occur during GLP-1–related weight reduction, the report notes that the industry currently lacks standardized education to help trainers safely support clients using these medications.
“Every program in this report emphasizes the same thing: GLP-1 users need qualified fitness professionals,” said Jason Davis, CEO of Inspire360, noting the growing role trainers may play in supporting clients using the medications.
The analysis suggests that as GLP-1 use expands, fitness facilities may increasingly serve as complementary partners in long-term health management, particularly in areas such as resistance training, metabolic health and lifestyle support.
