Flex for Access was launched in 2015 with a vision to help societal perception of disability evolve, and to allow all individuals regardless of limitations, fitness level and interest, the ability to be engaged in exercise and sport.

The organization acts as a pathway to allow individuals with physical challenges and injuries to engage in training sessions, yoga and boxing classes and other sport programs by facilitating the sessions and classes through the funds raised, and also raising funds for simple adaptive exercise equipment, like resistance bands for example which are needed for working out.

Promoting accessible fitness for everyone to enjoy: Global News interview with Jess Silver, Sept. 14, 2023

Fitness professionals, facility operators and industry suppliers collectively have the ability to change lives of individuals with physical disabilities and acquired injuries, through the offering of programming tailored to their needs and also through incorporating innovative equipment into their facilities.

The Elevate ‘N Empower Fundraiser by Flex for Access is intended to bring fitness industry stakeholders and leaders together. It is meant to ELEVATE understanding of adaptive fitness as part of the mainstream and EMPOWER opportunity. The virtual event will feature speakers who are para-athletes, strength and conditioning coaches, trainers, gym and clinic owners in a fireside chat and panel discussion which will focus on identifying the ‘gaps’/ problems related to accessing adaptive fitness within the mainstream, and address how working collaboratively, with Flex for Access creates opportunity.

The event will feature sport and fitness industry leaders and appearances by Paralympians. The fireside chat and panel discussion, will allow everyone to engage with one another and ask questions that will create and inspire opportunity. The event will also feature interactive games like ‘Flex Off’ trivia and fitness themed bingo. It’s a great opportunity to support the Non-Profit Organization and create change in the fitness and sport industry.
