A new boutique fitness concept has entered the Canadian market with the opening of Lark Lagree & Social Wellness Club in Penticton, British Columbia. The independently owned, 3,800-square-foot studio blends Lagree-based training with a wellness-focused, community-driven environment, featuring 10 Megaformers, infrared sauna amenities, and social lounge spaces designed to extend the in-club experience beyond traditional workouts.
Founded by local operators Vanessa Jahnke and Carl Nystrom—who also operate PURE Gym in British Columbia—the concept reflects a growing trend toward integrated fitness and social wellness spaces. The studio’s design emphasizes natural light, locally sourced materials, and a calm, nature-inspired aesthetic aligned with the Okanagan Valley setting.
At the core of the offering is the Lagree Method, a high-intensity, low-impact training system developed by Sebastien Lagree. Built around the proprietary Megaformer, the method combines elements of strength, endurance, and core training in a time-efficient format, and has gained global traction in boutique studio environments for its ability to deliver scalable, full-body workouts.
Lark’s positioning highlights the continued evolution of boutique fitness in Canada, where operators are increasingly pairing specialized training modalities with elevated amenities and community-focused design to differentiate the member experience.
