As Pilates and reformer-based training continue to gain momentum globally, Life Time is doubling down on its long-standing investment in the category, reinforcing the growing role of low-impact, strength-focused programming within large-format fitness clubs.

The operator reports continued growth in Pilates participation across its network, particularly in private sessions and reformer-based formats. In response, Pilates studios will be included in all planned new club developments this year, signalling confidence in sustained member demand for intelligent strength training, mobility work and longevity-focused programming.

A key driver of recent interest has been CTR, a 45-minute athletic reformer class that blends progressive resistance and performance-based training in a group setting. Since launch, CTR has expanded steadily and is reportedly the most waitlisted class format in the company’s history — underscoring broader industry appetite for reformer-based strength formats that appeal to both traditional Pilates participants and performance-oriented members.

Life Time’s approach combines classical Pilates methodology — including reformer, mat, tower and chair work — with more contemporary athletic adaptations. The expansion reflects a larger industry trend: reformer studios and Pilates-focused concepts continue to proliferate across North America, with operators integrating mobility, posture and joint-friendly strength training into mainstream club offerings.

Whether in boutique studios or full-service multipurpose clubs, Pilates appears firmly embedded in the 2026 programming mix, as members increasingly prioritize functional strength, injury prevention and long-term health.
