United Way Greater Toronto has opened registration for its 2026 CN Tower Climb, inviting participants of all fitness levels to tackle the tower’s 1,776 steps in support of community programs across Peel, Toronto and York Region.

The annual ClimbUP event will take place on November 14 and 15, with organizers aiming to raise $1.85 million to support United Way’s network of more than 300 community agencies and initiatives.

Last year’s event raised a record $2 million, helping approximately 1.8 million people access a range of services, including emergency housing, employment supports, community hubs, affordable housing initiatives and mental health resources.

“ClimbUP is more than a fundraiser,” said Nicole McVan, Vice President of Philanthropy and Marketing at United Way Greater Toronto. “Every year, thousands of people show up for their community, pushing themselves beyond what’s comfortable to make a difference. Every dollar raised translates into real support – a hot meal, a place to stay, a first job, a counselling session – proving that change can happen one step at a time.”

Among those returning for this year’s event are Cassie Day and Jahmeek Murray, co-founders of All Day Fit and former Amazing Race Canada contestants. Day attracted attention during last year’s climb by completing all 1,776 steps while eight months pregnant, while Murray completed the climb wearing a 40-pound weighted vest. The couple, now new parents, will once again participate in the event.

According to United Way Greater Toronto, funding generated through last year’s campaign helped support more than 18,000 people through employment and skills-building programs, assisted 4,123 individuals in obtaining or maintaining stable housing, and contributed to community infrastructure projects that will add more than 500 shelter beds and affordable housing units across the region.

The CN Tower Climb has become one of Canada’s best-known community fitness fundraising events, bringing together individuals, families, workplace teams and fitness enthusiasts in support of local social services.

Registration for the 2026 event is now open through the United Way Greater Toronto website.
