Skelcore has announced two senior leadership appointments as the company signals a new phase of growth under what it is calling “Skelcore 2.0.”
Roy Simonson, founder of the Cybex Eagle line and a long-time strength equipment designer, has been named Head of Product Design. Simonson is known for developing early biomechanically focused strength systems, including the VR2 series, and will oversee the development of a new equipment line centered on updated movement mechanics and resistance pathways.
“Strength training hasn’t fundamentally changed in decades,” said Simonson. “What we’re building at Skelcore is the culmination of a lifetime of design work – applying biomechanics in a way that finally matches how the human body is meant to move.”
Hillis Lake has joined the company as Head of Sales, bringing decades of commercial fitness leadership experience, including roles with Freemotion Fitness and Eleiko. His mandate will focus on supporting Skelcore’s continued expansion across commercial fitness, hospitality and boutique segments.
According to Skelcore, the forthcoming product line will incorporate biomechanics-driven design elements and performance feedback systems positioned as alternatives to conventional selectorized and plate-loaded equipment. The first products under Simonson’s direction are expected to be previewed at the upcoming HFA Show, with broader installations planned by the end of 2026.
The appointments reflect a broader industry trend toward strength equipment innovation that blends traditional resistance training with movement science and connected technology, as operators worldwide look for differentiated training solutions.
