Toronto-founded REFORMD is heading south of the border, with its first U.S. location set to open in Calabasas, California, in January 2027.
The expansion marks a significant next step for the Lagree and wellness concept launched by Sweat and Tonic in Toronto in June 2025. The new Calabasas studio will feature 37 Lagree EVO PRO machines, including 35 in the main studio and two in a private training and education space, alongside six wellness and recovery treatment rooms. REFORMD says the location will be the world’s largest Lagree studio.
The move follows strong early performance at REFORMD’s Toronto flagship, which operates with 31 MegaPro Megaformers. According to the company, the Toronto location has recorded more than 126,000 guest bookings since opening, while Sweat and Tonic has surpassed 3.4 million guest bookings across its broader fitness and wellness network since 2019.
Built in Toronto, Expanding Internationally
REFORMD Calabasas will be developed through a partnership between David Ingram, founder of Sweat and Tonic and REFORMD, and Heather Perren, a Lagree Senior Master Trainer and Director of Events at Lagree HQ.
Ingram said the California location is intended to build on the model established in Toronto.
“We pushed the boundaries of what a Lagree studio could be with our flagship location in Toronto, creating one of the largest and busiest studios in the world,” he said. “Expanding into California with Heather represents an exciting next chapter for the brand.”
The new location will combine large-scale group Lagree training with recovery and wellness services, including massage therapy, dry float experiences, electric cryotherapy, compression therapy, Therabody recovery tools and other treatment options. The main studio will also feature an instructor stage, custom lighting and AV designed to create an immersive class environment.
Canadian Growth Continues
While the Calabasas opening represents REFORMD’s first move into the U.S., the brand is continuing to expand at home. Sweat and Tonic said further REFORMD growth is planned in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood in fall 2026, adding another Canadian location as the concept begins to scale internationally.
Sweat and Tonic itself has also been expanding beyond its original Toronto footprint. The company operates its flagship Toronto locations and previously entered the Los Angeles market through sister studio Silver Springs in 2023.
For the Canadian fitness industry, REFORMD’s U.S. debut is another example of a homegrown boutique concept moving from a successful Toronto launch into a larger North American growth strategy — while continuing to add locations in Canada.
